Man accused of pointing gun at Sarasota County deputy, refusing to drop it faces additional charge

SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. — A man accused of pointing his gun at a Sarasota County deputy last week is now facing an additional charge.

Just before 6:30 p.m. on April 2, deputies responded to a reported disturbance on 59th Street and found a man sitting behind a home. The sheriff’s office said the man, identified as Robert Boast, 55, removed a handgun from his waistband and pointed it at one of the deputies.

Two deputies fired shots at Boast after they say he refused verbal commands to drop the gun. At the time, Boast was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries and was in critical condition but stable. His current condition is unknown…
