SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Friday morning will be warm and mainly dry across west-central and southwest Florida, with sunshine pushing temperatures quickly into the 80s. Afternoon highs will reach the lower 90s inland, with heat index values near 100. Isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms are expected mainly inland, with a few stronger storms capable of gusty winds, lightning, and small hail.
Little change is expected through the weekend, with the exception of slightly higher rain chances toward the end of the forecast. East to southeast winds will keep the sea breeze and best rain chances inland during the afternoons. Saturday will bring scattered afternoon storms and highs near 92. Sunday turns slightly hotter, with inland temperatures climbing into the low to mid 90s and somewhat greater storm coverage.
