Chatham County to spend $1.8M restoring storm-damaged McQueen’s Island Trail

CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) – Chatham County leaders are moving forward with a $1.8 million project to restore parts of the McQueen’s Island Trail, a historic route repeatedly damaged by major storms.

County commissioners approved the spending to address erosion and washouts along the trail, which officials say worsened after hurricanes — including Hurricane Helene in 2024 — tore through coastal Georgia.
