SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — A 53-year-old Savannah man was sentenced to more than 30 years in federal prison for possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.
Duane Smith, 53, was sentenced to 405 months in prison, fined $1,200 and ordered to serve five years of supervised release, a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Georgia said.
Smith has a minimum 15-year term of imprisonment after he was adjudicated as an Armed Career Criminal, which requires the term for recidivists convicted of illegally possessing a firearm who have three prior state or federal convictions for violent felonies or serious drug offenses…
