Mosquitoes test positive for West Nile virus in Beaufort County

BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) — Mosquito samples in Beaufort County have tested positive for the West Nile virus for the first time in 2026, according to Beaufort County Mosquito Control (BCMC).

The samples were taken from mosquito trap locations in the city of Beaufort and were tested in BCMC’s lab.

As a result of the virus detection, BCMC is increasing mosquito trapping in certain areas. They will also schedule more treatment missions to decrease the number of adult mosquitoes…
