SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Locals and tourists will have the chance to step aboard a piece of maritime history that is sailing into Savannah this month.
The historic 1877 Tall Ship ELISSA is making a rare stop on River Street for its first visit to Savannah in more than 130 years.
ELISSA is one of the three ships of her kind still sailing and is one of the oldest ships sailing in current times.
ELISSA most recently sailed from Galveston, Texas, to lead the parade of Class A Tall Ships into the New York Harbor on July 4.
July’s visit to Savannah will mark ELISSA’s return to Savannah after previously visiting in 1894. The visit is part of her official Sail250 voyage, officials said…
