CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) is seeking public input on its proposed boundary expansion of 10 national wildlife refuges (NWRs) located in South Carolina and Georgia.
As a response to changes in the coastal Georgia and South Carolina Lowcountry landscape, USFWS, an agency within the United States Department of the Interior, has proposed “major” expansions to 10 NWRs.
The reason for expansion is to balance ongoing and increasing pressures by conserving a set of habitats and enhancing the network of state, federal, local, and private connected or complementary conservation lands in the coastal region, the agency said…
