Local students can ride CAT buses for free

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Chatham Area Transit (CAT) is hoping to make it easier for local students to ride the bus.

On Monday, CAT is kickstarting its Student Zero-Fare Pilot Program, which is eligible to all Chatham County K-12, college and university students.

The pilot program, offered seven days a week, will end on May 31.

Students can simply use their school-issued IDs or sign up for the CAT Student Bus Pass at this link to hop on board.

CAT says as far as safety is concerned, they’re implementing best practices, including rotating Safety Officers on buses throughout service times.

Officials say they’re working closely with the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System to ensure effective service and communication.
