SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – The Georgia Historical Society is continuing its Georgia History Festival in February with educational events for students and families.
It’s all in recognition of the founding of Georgia on Feb. 12, 1733.
This year’s festivities kick off on Friday, Feb. 9 with the inaugural Georgia Day Expo. It’s happening at the Savannah Civic Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The society expects more than 1,200 students from local schools.
Complementing the Georgia History Festival theme “Governing Georgia Across Three Centuries,” the expo will offer opportunities for students to learn about state history, government and civics.
Organizations like the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum, the Bill of Rights Institute, the Atlanta Center for Puppetry Arts, Jimmy Carter National Historical Park, the Chatham County Board of Elections, the Savannah Police Department and the Third Infantry Division Museum, plus local elected officials, will be in attendance.
Saturday and Sunday, the festival continues with the Colonial Faire and Muster at Wormsloe State Historic Site.
