SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Our stretch of quiet weather is coming to an end this weekend as a coastal low tracks up our coast. The good news is that you will have one beautiful day Saturday to get outside and enjoy over the weekend before widespread soaking rain moves in Sunday.
This will be a longer duration event, stretching from Sunday into Tuesday, because it is divided into two parts: rain and wind. They will go hand and hand through Monday before the low pressure system moves further off our coast and then our attention turns to the remaining gusty wind for the rest of Monday into Tuesday.
Downed trees and powerlines are not out of the question due to heavy rain and the longevity of the strong, gusty winds. Highest rain fall totals will be up to 3-4″ and winds will be from the northeast with 10-20 mph sustained winds and gusts of 30+ mph.
SOAKING RAIN TIMEFRAME
Starting off Sunday morning, expect scattered showers from the first rain band to arrive. Pockets of heavy rain are possible, but the bulk of the soaking rain will hold off until later in the day Sunday. .
