Bryan County detainee found unresponsive dies

PEMBROKE, Ga. (WSAV) — According to Bryan County Sheriff, Mark Crowe, a man detained at the Bryan County Detention Center has died.

Jason Manuel Herrera, 39, of Savannah was found unresponsive in a jail cell on Thursday, Feb. 1. at around 7 p.m.

Although officers and medical staff attempted to revive Herrera, he was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital where he would later be declared dead two days later.

It is not yet clear why Herrera was being detained.

Sheriff Crowe says he sends his sincerest condolences to the family of Mr. Herrera.
