BLUFFTON, S.C. (WSAV) — In most ways Madison Belz is your typical thirteen-year-old.
“I make YouTube videos about sketch animals, Minecraft videos and I like to go horseback riding,” Madison said.
However, she’s facing something no teen should. The one thing standing in her way of getting back to riding horses and playing outside, is cystic dysplasia.
It’s a condition she developed in the womb that doesn’t let her kidneys grow normally.
“To see her go through this was a lot and it killed us,” Madison’s mom Brooke said. “But she always rised above it. She always just had a smile on her face. And she always just so positive no matter what. Even in the hospital, she was just so positive and so happy. And just like you wouldn’t think all the things she goes through, you know, it happens. She’s strong, she’s very strong.”
Right now, Madison is in need of a kidney transplant. Madison is on dialysis right now and her family desperately wants to get her off it.
Knowing that the day could come for a kidney transplant is something that weighed heavy on the Belz family.
