Savannah Native Wins Super Bowl

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Many of you may have watched the big game last night, but you might not have known that one of Savannah’s very own walked off the field as a Super Bowl champion.

Wanya’s father, Charles Morris, says it’s a feeling unlike anything he has ever experienced, and he’s proud that his son can serve as a role model to Savannah’s young athletes.

“No matter where you come from, if you believe you can achieve this. You just need hard work preservation and dedication.” said Morris.

Aside from being the father of a Super Bowl champion, Charles Morris works for the city of Savannah’s Parks and Recreation department. He says he has a firsthand perspective of the opportunities that sports can create for people.

”A lot of parents are getting involved and pushing their kids. Some kids need sports just to get out of the neighborhood. Football is a stepping stone for these guys here.” said Morris.

Although he promises that he doesn’t have a time machine, Morris says he always knew his son was capable of these massive accomplishments.
