SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – The city of Savannah welcomed home the remains of Sgt. Breonna Moffett on Thursday with a special motorcade procession.
The 23-year-old was one of three Georgians killed last month in a drone strike in Jordan.
The Savannah Police Department led the motorcade from Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport to Campbell and Sons Funeral Home late Thursday morning.
Supporters lined the streets as the procession traveled into downtown Savannah.
Alzora Raham doesn’t live far from the intersection of MLK Blvd. and Gwinnett St., a focal point of the procession where a good portion of people gathered.
Raham was the first to arrive, well before 11 a.m. when the procession began, walking from her home nearby.
“Because I believe that she was worth it. Her sacrifice was worth it,” she said.
Raham was joined by hundreds in solidarity for Moffett, including Gov. Brian Kemp and Chatham County Commissioner Bobby Lockett.
“All I can say is God bless America for all the good things that she has done, and what she has given up,” said Lockett, commissioner of District 3. “She gave it all to and for our country.”
