Fog: What Is It and Why Do We See It?

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Fog, we see it a lot, but did you know there are many different types that occur in different places? The simple explanation of fog is that it is a cloud that touches the ground. Scientifically, it is a thick cloud made up of tiny water droplets that reaches the earth’s surface and restricts visibility. It happens when the air is cooled to the dewpoint temperature. There is not just one type though. There are many different types that show up in different climates and in different atmospheric conditions.
