Office complex design on Forsyth Park set for Historic Preservation Commission. Here’s a look

It was nearly one year ago when Savannah City Council voted to leave a set of mid-century buildings on the southwest corner of Forsyth Park off of the contributing structures list, paving the way for their demolition. Since that vote the plans for the site’s future became clear with council approving an agreement for an underground parking garage on the site, which during the work hours would serve a modern office complex above.

Now, conceptual plans for that office space are set to go before the Historic Preservation Commission later this month, providing the first look at what may occupy the site for years to come. The design, crafted by LS3P Associates in collaboration with development partners, neighborhood associations and HPC staff, would bring about 125,000 square-feet of Class A office space right on the park.

“What we have is a group think solution to what was appropriate and what wasn’t appropriate for the site,” said Evans General Contractors Vice President and COO Jeff Jepson.
