TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (WSAV)—A large concrete block structure floated onto the North Beach Jetties on Friday.
The City of Tybee Island said that the block is likely from an industrial dock. They said that their Department of Public Works worked to drag the 10×10-foot block to the toe of the dues.
The city also said that they are unsure how it floated given it’s weight.
The area has been barricaded for safety reasons and they will be dismantling and removing the structure on Monday morning.
It could have washed up due to the higher-than-normal tides and rough surf over the week, WSAV’s Brian Michigan said.
