Flood warning issued for Ogeechee River near Eden, impacts expected at Steel Bridge Boat Landing

The Ogeechee River near Eden is under a flood warning as of 3:15 p.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service Charleston .

The river is expected to crest at 14 feet at its Eden gauge. The 14-foot river level qualifies as a “moderate flooding” threat, and the NWS alert states “homes and camps near the river are surrounded by water” at 14 feet.

Peak river levels are expected Monday morning. Flood stage, which begins when the river rises to 11 feet, is expected late Saturday evening, according to the NWS.

The Steel Bridge boat landing in Guyton is expected to experience “significant flooding,” according to the NWS, with limited access to homes near the boat landing at peak river levels.

The Ogeechee River’s Eden gauge crested at nearly 18 feet in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Debby, which brought historic flood levels to the Coastal Empire. Residents can monitor the Ogeechee River’s water levels through the National Weather Service here .
