Rain Bands & Squalls Reach Up Beyond Florida
10/09/24 10:54pm ET
Good evening everyone. Our tropical system has officially made landfall across the western coast of central Florida, but it has far-reaching impacts beyond that region.
Heavy rain and gusty winds have begun to develop across southeast Georgia, as well as nipping at the heels of the southernmost tip of coastal South Carolina. We’ve already seen some on & off heavy gusty showers in areas such as Savannah, GA and Beaufort, SC.
Look for increasing winds that may be locally damaging in spots, as well as heavy rain, thunderstorms, and enhanced tides with minor coastal flooding. While both Georgia and South Carolina are far away from the main action, we could still see some downed tree limbs/branches and scattered power outages.
Look for rainy & windy conditions to continue into the overnight hours and early tomorrow as well. While we’ll remain breezy, the rain should begin to taper off as the days wears on and we could see some late sun.
