Challenge against 850 Bryan County voters dismissed

RICHMOND HILL, Ga. (WSAV) – A challenge against 850 voters in Bryan County was dismissed Thursday after the challenger failed to attend the hearing.

Voters piled into the Richmond Hill Administrative Complex to submit evidence of their qualifications individually.

However, because Jenifer Hilburn, the woman challenging the voters, did not show up to the meeting with the county, the challenge was dismissed.

“I have no idea what the person who pointed me out as not being eligible to vote, how they knew me,” said David Goldrick, whose voter registration was challenged. “We had never come across each other, so it’s like somebody stands out in the street and accuses you of some crime in your neighborhood.”

During the public hearing portion of the meeting, voters expressed their frustrations, some getting emotional at times, having been challenged. Many questioned how Hilburn could be held accountable or investigated.
