National Park Service celebrates Fort Pulaski’s 100th anniversary as national monument

Fort Pulaski marked its 100th anniversary as a national monument with cannon fire. Beginning Saturday morning and running through Sunday afternoon, the National Park Service and Fort Pulaski planned programs that celebrated the site’s storied past as a protector of a nascent nation, its role during the U.S. Civil War and its importance in ongoing historical and environmental research. The Slave Dwelling Project made a presentation and the Third Infantry Division Band performed.
