Matchups for the Savannah area teams still alive in the state volleyball and softball playoffs

As the state volleyball and softball playoffs continue this week, there are three volleyball teams from the Greater Savannah area in the quarterfinals, with four softball teams fighting to win their next series to earn a berth in the Elite Eight played in Columbus.

Here’s a look at the playoff matchups for the Savannah area teams that are still alive in the postseason.

Volleyball

Lovett (28-14) at Savannah Christian (31-9), Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 6 p.m.

Savannah Christian, which entered the Private School playoffs ranked No. 4 in the power rankings, followed up its first round sweep of Weber School by taking down visiting Mt. Vernon in four sets 25-17, 25-19, 20-25, 25-20.

The Raiders improved to 31-9 on the season. Alabama-bound Maggie Kyriakides leads the team with 324 digs, while Reese Theriot leads the squad with 62 aces. Ella Brooking has been strong at the net and leads the team with 55 blocks. Senior setter Laney Westbrook has a team-high 433 assists, while Remy Thompson leads the team with 270 digs.
