Bluffton man charged in South Carolina campus crowd shooting

BLUFFTON, S.C. (WSAV) – A Bluffton man has been charged with Attempted Murder following a 2023 crowd shooting.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has charged Melvin Anthony Williams, 21,
with Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime
on Friday, March 3, 2023.

Williams allegedly opened fire into a crowd of students on the University of South Carolina campus and struck one individual in the leg.

Williams was booked into the Orangeburg County Detention Center.
