SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – There’s nothing a good surprise, especially when it involves cold, hard cash.
WSAV met a teacher at Windsor Forest High School during a very special homecoming week full of fun days and funky outfits to surprise her as the next winner of “A Banana for the Teacher.”
“This is homecoming week. We’re trying to change the school culture and show more Windsor pride. I’m dressed up as the #1 barbecue dad in the city,” said Brooklyn Howard.
Howard may not be a barbecue dad at her day job, but she is a history teacher at the high school.
“This is amazing. I feel so honored that somebody in the community would nominate me for this.,” Howard told WSAV.
She was nominated for her work inside and outside the classroom.
“Her reaction and her kids’ reaction and the bond they have and the joy that they have – that’s exactly why we do this,” said Glory Paul of Farah & Farah.
Ms. Howard takes home a classroom grant of $500 thanks to WSAV, Farah & Farah and the Savannah Bananas. Howard can use the money for anything her students need to help them succeed.
