Meredith Gibson talks race for Bryan County chair

Richmond Hill resident Meredith Gibson has always been confident in her ability to lead. After Richmond Hill suffered significant flooding due to Tropical Storm Debby in August, she was one of many volunteers who led efforts to assist residents who had been flooded out of their home. Gibson , who is a realtor, is taking another big step in running for chairman of Bryan County.

“When Buck Holly challenged Carter Infinger in the primary, there was no sense in having a third person come in because that would muddy the waters,” said Gibson. “When we flooded with Debby, my eyes were open to the lack of leadership. It was me there everyday and the city of Richmond Hill with no signs of the county. I couldn’t sleep and there was a burning pit in my stomach. At the very least, I am going to make waves and bring attention to it. At the very best, we are going to win in a landslide.”

According to U.S. Census data, Bryan County was listed as one of the fastest growing counties in the state but that does not intimidate Gibson, who says she is confident she can handle the impending growth too.
