SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Chatham County will be testing its Emergency Warning Siren System this week.

The system is used to notify residents of danger within their community, such as a tornado warning.

The city of Tybee Island will conduct a separate siren test at 11:30 a.m.

Officials say the test is necessary to ensure that the system is functioning properly.

In the event of poor weather conditions, the test will be rescheduled for Friday.

These tests are typically performed on the first Wednesday of each month.
