Savannah area education institutions have been impacted by the flash flooding occurring in coastal Georgia.
Here are the latest updates.
Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools cancels after school activities
Savannah-Chatham County Public School System Public Information Manger Sheila Blanco confirmed that the rains and flooding have led to the canceling of “all afterschool activities including athletics today,” she wrote in an email.
Blanco said parents and families should have started to receive call and email notifications around 2 p.m. alerting them of the cancelations. She emphasized that YMCA afterschool care is not affected by the cancelations.
Families who have other forms of after-school care should check with their providers to ensure pickups are still occurring or have been cancelled. Families are also advised to review messages from their individual school principals as school pickup procedures may be impacted.
