Community Corner: United Way’s ‘Turkey Trot’

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Since its inception in 1938, the United Way of the Coastal Empire has remained driven by volunteers and committed to improving lives through the caring power of our community.

Sometimes, it takes a little creative energy to get everyone to support a worthwhile cause. The 16th annual Turkey Trot, which will be held on Thanksgiving morning, November 28, is one of those events.

Kim Waller is the nonprofit’s president and CEO. Dr. Yancy Ford is the United Way of the Coastal Empire’s 2025 campaign chair and Effingham County Schools Superintendent.

They both join WSAV’s Kim Gusby to talk about the upcoming event, which begins at 8:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

Online pre-registration is open on United Way of the Coastal Empire’s website at uwce.org/turkey-trot and will CLOSE on Wednesday, November 27 at 6:00 p.m. EST.

If the race does not sell out, on-site registration will also be available the morning of the race from 7:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. at Daffin Park.
