SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – What a difference a day makes. On Friday, Savannah Feed the Hungry didn’t have enough toys for the number of children expected to attend their Christmas dinner, but by Saturday, the need was met with over one-thousand toys.
Feed the Hungry’s 16th annual Christmas dinner is projected to feed around 400 families Monday, Dec. 23 at the Enmarket Arena. A big part of the dinner is the gifted toys given to the children in attendance.
On Friday, Feed the Hungry CEO and State Representative Carl Gilliard (D-162) told News 3 they needed over 600 toys “miraculously” by Monday. That miracle happened on Saturday during their toy drive.
Feed the Hungry was formed in 2009 and has since served over 1.5 million servings in 14 cities in Georgia and South Carolina. For more information about Savannah Feed the Hungry, or to donate, click or tap here .
