Norman Rockwell exhibit at Telfair Muesum to close in January

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Telfair Musuems will close its exclusive Norman Rockwell exhibition on January 5, 2025.

Located inside the Jepson Center at 207 West York Street in Savannah, this exhibition showcases Rockwell’s work depicting childhood, along with other illustrators, such as J.C. Leyendecker, Maxfield Parrish, Jessie Willcox Smith, and N.C. Wyeth. This exhibit, in collaboration with the National Museum of American Illustration, features over 60 notable works by key figures in American illustration history.

Norman Rockwell, famous for his charming portrayals of everyday American life, is one of the most beloved illustrators of the 20th century. His work was made popular through magazine reproductions and print advertisements. Rockwell’s illustrations, notably his 321 cover paintings for The Saturday Evening Post over 47 years, are considered iconic representations of American culture.

“Norman Rockwell & Peers: Illustrating Childhood” explores how these illustrators presented childhood themes to reflect the changing and complex nature of American society. The exhibition features advertisements, calendar illustrations, magazine covers, and story artworks, giving a thorough view of how illustration has impacted cultural shifts.
