Around 8 a.m. the Savannah Police Department posted to its X.com page that Southbound White Bluff Road is temporarily impassable at Jackson Boulevard due to roadway flooding.
City of Savannah Director of Marketing and Communications Nick Zoller stated in a phone call Saturday morning that such closures are “typical of what we see when there’s high-intensity rain.”
The National Weather Service observations at the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport show the area had about .61 inches of rainfall between 3:53 a.m. and 7:53 a.m. The service has not issued any flood advisories or warnings for the area.
High tide for the area occurred around 6:41 a.m.
Zoller stated that the roadway would reopen as flooding recedes. He confirmed that no other road closures were reported due to the rainfall that occurred Saturday morning. He noted that a city storm water crew has been sent to the scene to assess the situation.
This is a developing story.
