Savannah’s 2025 road resurfacing plan set to smooth out bumpy streets across the city

SAVANNAH, G.A. (WSAV) – If you’ve been avoiding rocky roads in your neighborhood, your ride should become smoother this year. The Savannah City Council passed a road improvement plan that will reduce bumpy rides.

Savannah streets are getting a much-needed makeover. The city will be rolling out a resurfacing project this year, impacting many roads in all six districts.

The Savannah City Council voted to pass a road improvement plan that will authorize a 4.4-million-dollar contract. This project will target several roads across the city, and repair streets that were left off the 2024 repair list. The funding will come from a mix of local grants and SPLOST funds. From high-traffic corridors like Bull Street to suburban neighborhoods like Windsor Road; the project will improve driving conditions, and boost safety. Residents should be prepared for temporary lane closures and detours during construction.

WSAV spoke with residents about how they feel about the road resurfacing project.

“I’m super excited so that when I drive or walk on this road every single day I won’t have to trip down or feel like I am walking on something that is unsafe. It’s going to look so much better; it’s going to be better for my car tires. I am so excited,” said Jeongin Lee, a Savannah resident.
