SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – A cold front is making its way into the Coastal Empire and Low Country Monday, bringing showers, storms and wind. This marks the arrival of the long-awaited arctic blast we’ve been talking about for the past week. The cold front will move in later Monday, onsetting the long-lasting low temperatures behind it.
TIMING
We’re monitoring a fast-moving cold front that will last only a few hours. The front is expected to move into the inland regions by mid-morning Monday, pushing eastward and off the coast by early afternoon. As it moves through, expect showers and possibly a few gusty storms. One of the main impacts of this front will be the strong winds, which will linger even after it passes.
Temperatures will drop significantly Monday night and into Tuesday morning. With the wind sticking around, the “feels-like” temperature will be much colder than the actual temperature. Tuesday marks the arrival of the arctic blast, bringing dangerously low temperatures that will persist through the rest of the week and possibly into next week.
