Pursuit of suspect in deadly assault ends in crash on I-95

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — On Sunday, the pursuit of a suspect, Damein Beach, 43, ended in a single car accident on I-95.

A Georgia State Patrol trooper responded to a request from Port Wentworth Police Department about a vehicle pursuit. The trooper was advised the fleeing vehicle was reported stolen out of South Carolina and that the driver was wanted in connection to a deadly assault that occurred on Quail Drive in Colleton County earlier that day. When Hardeeville Police attempted a traffic stop on Beach, Beach fled from authorities. Hardeeville Police and Port Wentworth Police departments were also involved in the pursuit.

The Georgia State Patrol trooper took position as the pursuit passed exit 106 southbound and successfully conducted Precision Immobilization Techniques (PIT) near mile marker 105. The vehicle traveled into the median, overturned, and Beach was ejected. He was transported to Memorial Health University with severe injuries…
