Heated Savannah City Council meeting

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Sparks started at Thursday’s city council meeting with Alderwoman Bernetta Lanier and Mayor Van Johnson exchanging words over the city’s plans to invest another $14 million into a new parking lot at Enmarket Arena.

If the new money is approved, it would bring the total to $29 million. Lanier was concerned that we are investing too much in parking garages around the city and not enough in connectivity for locals.

Then it was Alderman Detric Leggett’s turn to speak, and he confronted Lanier directly about her recent press conference where she accused the Savannah Police Department of corruption and accused city leaders of trying to cover it up…
