Richmond Hill Miler Club: Running toward a reward

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – More and more these days, it seems kids are opting to stay inside and go on their phones rather than play outside, run around, and get some exercise. But there’s a unique program in Richmond Hill that’s doing its best to combat that trend: The Richmond Hill Miler Club.

For five recesses a year, elementary students are given the option to use that time to run instead of playing. The more miles they run, the more perks they get.

“It’s a digital age we have now with these devices everywhere, and so getting them out and active — they really want it, they mentally need it, physically they need it, and so this is really big for them in that sense,” said Richmond Hill track and field coach Levi Sybert…
