Savannah, Ga. – Damaging winds, hail up to the size of quarters, and isolated tornadoes are possible across southeast Georgia Monday night as a line of strong thunderstorms pushes through the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, isolated to severe storms could develop between 6 and 7 p.m. Monday and continue through 4 a.m. Tuesday, with the greatest risk focused in southeast Georgia, including cities like Savannah, Hinesville, and Brunswick. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a marginal risk alert for the area, warning that some storms may produce wind gusts up to 60 mph.
Communities in eastern Georgia and southern South Carolina should remain alert for rapidly changing conditions. The primary threats include downed trees, power outages, and hazardous travel overnight. A few tornadoes cannot be ruled out, particularly in the southernmost counties.
