SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Y Readers is a free afterschool academic enrichment program offered by the YMCA of Coastal Georgia. It serves Chatham County School System students in kindergarten through third grade who are reading below grade level or at high-risk for falling behind. The program operates as an afterschool program during the academic school year.
The mission of Y Readers is to provide the additional support that students need to be proficient in reading by the end of third grade. Each component of the Y Readers program is designed to help students build foundational reading skills and gain self-confidence.
