SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — All Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) facilities are on lockdown after a violent night statewide, according to a GDC spokesperson.
The spokesperson tells WSAV News 3, “Multiple fights occurred across GDC facilities the evening of June 18th. All facilities are currently on lockdown out of an abundance of caution, which is not uncommon.”
WSAV reached out to GDC staff with concerns from an individual with a family member at Coastal State Prison. The GDC spokesperson first told News 3 there were no incidents at Coastal SP last night. The spokesperson then stated, “a minor fight occurred at Coastal SP with no outside medical attention required.”…
