Hot conditions with afternoon storms

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – We’ll warm to the 80s by lunchtime with highs in the lower 90s.

Heat index values will once again reach the lower triple digits during our afternoon hours. There is a marginal risk for severe weather along and north of I-16, but any of these storms could produce heavy rain and lightning this afternoon into the evening. These stronger storms will have the capability of producing damaging wind gusts, there is even a potential for microbursts this afternoon. Most of this activity will quiet down during the evening.

Friday starts out in the mid 70s with highs once again in the lower 90s. A weak cold front will move in from the north, bringing in an additional chance for showers and storms. Most of the rain will be focused on the afternoon sea breeze, with afternoon showers dissipating into the evening hours…
