Internal miscommunication leads to Chatham Parkway bridge closing earlier than expected Friday

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – The Chatham Parkway bridge is officially closed until July 20, and the Georgia Department of Transportation said internal miscommunication with their contractors led to a more than 12-hour early start time.

The anticipation was that the bridge would close at 9 p.m. on Friday, June 20 until July 10. On Friday morning, our WTOC crew saw “Road Closed” signage and barriers placed on the bridge around 6:30 a.m.
