Chatham County Sheriff extends visitation for attorneys and clergy members

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – The Chatham County Sheriff is expanding visitation at the jail for attorneys and clergy members to 24 hours a day.

“This in so many ways helps the detainees with their cases,’ said Sheriff Richard Coleman. ”It helps the attorneys better prepare. And also with our clergy, it helps the overall morale of the jail, helping us control behaviors and things that might create problems within the jail.”

Prior to this, those two groups could only visit with inmates during business hours- from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m…
