BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office reported two drowning incidents this week involving visitors from Georgia, according to a news release from the law enforcement agency.
On Monday, a 69-year-old man from Georgia drowned at Coligny Beach on Hilton Head Island. Deputies were dispatched to the scene shortly before 6:30 p.m. after a bystander assisted in bringing the man to shore. A lifeguard met them and immediately began lifesaving measures, according to a news release.
The following day, Tuesday, a 65-year-old man, also from Georgia, drowned at Hunting Island State Park. Deputies responded shortly before 5:30 p.m. after a bystander fishing along the shoreline saw the man floating in the water. The bystander swam out to him, brought him ashore, and started CPR…
