Sons of American Legion Post 500 Award $500 Scholarships

On Sunday, June 22, 2025, at 4:00 PM, the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 500 of William P. Jordan American Legion Post 500 proudly awarded its Legacy Scholarships during a ceremony held at the H.R. Delaney Social Hall of St. Paul CME Church. The Sons of the American Legion Squadron 500 Legacy Scholarship is a prestigious award recognizing exceptional high school seniors who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to community service. Rooted in honoring military and first responder legacies, the scholarship supports students who embody resilience, integrity, and a drive to make a meaningful impact. In 2025, the scholarship committee proudly selected two outstanding recipients whose achievements and aspirations reflect the highest ideals of this honor.

Allyson Achacia Mc- Cray and Naimah Lacey Hall. Both recipients have demonstrated not only scholastic achievement but also a profound dedication to uplifting their communities and honoring the service of their family members. Allyson McCray, daughter of Megan McCray and Anthony Steele, is a graduate of Savannah Country Day School and will attend Savannah State University to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice. Her leadership in athletics and student organizations, along with a powerful personal essay on identity and resilience, distinguished her as a standout candidate. Naimah Hall, daughter of Arlethia E. Brown- Hall and Brian L. Hall, is a graduate of Woodville-Tompkins Technical and Career High School and will continue her education at Savannah Technical College in Nursing. With a 3.75 GPA, multiple certifications, and leadership roles in organizations like Top Teens of America and the Student Senate, Naimah embodies the spirit of service and determination.
