Memorial Health doctor explains heat related illnesses

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – On hot days it’s important to be careful. WTOC invited expert Dr. Tim Connelly with Memorial Health to explain the dangers.

He says, “Heat related illness is the most common cause of weather related death. Hydration becomes much more important. That means drinking not only water, but also drinks with electrolytes. Avoid being outside from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on severe heat days. Buy a window unit for under $200 that way you have at least one room in your home where you can have a place to cool off.”
