SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The Georgia Department of Education (GADOE) honors schools that demonstrate excellence in cursive writing instruction.
GADOE gives out the John Hancock Award to elementary, middle and high schools that go above and beyond in teaching cursive writing – a skill that builds fine motor strength, enhances literacy and allows students to engage meaningfully with historical texts in their original form.
Three SCCPSS schools have been recognized for their cursive instruction efforts for 2024-25: Marshpoint Elementary, Pulaski K-8 and Garrison School for the Arts.
