Chatham County to reactivate school zone speed cameras

CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) — The Chatham County Police Department (CCPD) is set to reactivate school zone speed cameras on Monday, Aug. 4.

The CCPD reported that during the 2024-2025 school year, school cameras captured over 30 thousand speeding violations—an average of 173 motorists speeding by 11 miles per hour on more in a school zone on every school day.

The cameras will be active 45 minutes before school starts, staying on during the day and will remain active until 30 minutes after school and students are dismissed from class. These cameras will only be on during school days…
