SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — A historic church in Savannah was forced to move their services to a temporary location after a partial ceiling collapse on the afternoon of July 22, 2025.
According to Senior Pastor Ben Martin, no one was in the Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church when the collapse happened.
“If it would have been a Sunday morning during worship, when this sanctuary is pretty full, it would have been a tragedy that we could have never recovered from,” Martin said. “We knew we had some paint issues and things in the sanctuary to be addressed, but no idea that we had a ceiling that was this compromised.”…
