City of Savannah increases maintenance for stormwater, sewer

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — After nearly doubling the 30-year average rainfall in August in Savannah, according to the National Weather Service (NWS), the City of Savannah will increase its stormwater and sewer maintenance, it said Monday.

The NWS said Savannah received 11.79 inches of rain in the month, despite the average being 6.79 inches. Some areas of Savannah received more than 20 inches, comparative data from Weather Underground indicated.

During the month, the city increased its mitigation efforts while also advancing more than 16 active stormwater improvement projects, with more to come, the city said…
