Gamma Sigma Omega Chapter Launches Black Maternal Health Awareness Campaign with CAT

Members of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Gamma Sigma Omega Chapter have taken a bold step to bring attention to the Black maternal health crisis. In collaboration with Chatham Area Transit (CAT), the Chapter launched a public education and awareness campaign that will reach millions across Savannah and surrounding areas.

On Friday, June 13, eye-catching and informative posters were installed on all 60 CAT buses, which collectively transport nearly four million passengers each year throughout Savannah, unincorporated Chatham County, and parts of Garden City. The campaign will remain visible through September 2025, educating the public about the disproportionate maternal health outcomes affecting Black women and the often-overlooked impact of mental health on maternal care and birthing experiences.
